Finding and Sizing BTC/USD on the FxPro Platform
Locate the instrument, size the order with our calculators, then set the exit before you set the entry.
Finding BTC/USD in the Terminal
Open the Market Watch or symbol list and search for BTC, not for gold or XAU. Bitcoin appears as BTC/USD, and the contract is one standard lot equal to 1 BTC with one pip equal to 1.0, so the price you see is the dollar value of one bitcoin. The reference price we use across this site is around 77000.0, which gives you a sense of scale when you read a chart.
Right-click the symbol and open a chart before you open an order ticket. Confirm the timeframe and that the price on the chart matches the price in the ticket; a stale quote on a fast-moving instrument is how people enter at a level they did not intend.
On the FxPro app the symbol search sits at the top of the watchlist. On MT4, MT5 and cTrader it is in the Market Watch panel. Same instrument, different furniture.
Sizing the Order With Our Calculators
Size the position from the risk you are willing to lose, not from the margin the platform will let you post. Decide the dollar amount you can lose on the trade, decide where your stop sits in dollars of price, and let our position size calculator convert that into a lot size. For BTC/USD, one lot is 1 BTC, so the arithmetic is direct and the calculator removes the guesswork.
Then check the margin with our margin calculator. At the cap that applies to the entity serving the Philippines, a 0.10-lot bitcoin position needs about $385.00 margin, and larger sizes scale from there. Treat that cap as a ceiling, not a setting to aim at, because the margin requirement is what a adverse move consumes first.
Our pip value calculator is the third check. With one pip equal to 1.0 on this instrument, the pip value scales with lot size, and knowing it in dollars lets you read your stop distance as a peso cost before you click.
Setting the Exit With the Entry
Set the stop loss and take profit in the same order ticket as the entry, not after the position is open. An exit placed afterwards is placed by a trader who is already emotionally involved in the trade, and that is where stops get widened. Decide the stop distance and the target before you know whether the trade is winning.
Use our profit calculator to see what the target is worth in dollars and in pesos at your lot size, net of an estimated holding cost if you plan to keep the position overnight. If the reward does not justify the risk after that subtraction, the trade is not worth taking at that size.
Finally, remember who regulates the entity you are trading with: FxPro is licensed by the FCA (UK) and CySEC - not by the SEC of the Philippines. That does not change the order ticket, but it should keep your position size modest and your exits pre-set.
Why the BTC/USD symbol list can show more than one bitcoin pair
The symbol list can show several BTC/USD entries because each is a different instrument specification, not a duplicate. On MT4 and MT5 the terminal distinguishes them by contract size, quote currency, or account type, and cTrader and the FxPro app apply their own naming. Before you size anything, open the specification window and confirm the symbol says BTC/USD, that one lot equals 1 BTC, and that the pip value is 1.0. If the entry you clicked shows a different contract size, you are on the wrong line and your calculator output will not match the order ticket.
The right symbol is the one whose specification matches the instrument you planned: BTC/USD, 1 lot = 1 BTC, pip = 1.0, quoted against the US dollar. Check the reference price area of roughly 77000.0 against the chart you are reading. A symbol that quotes bitcoin against another currency, or that carries a different contract size, will move in a way your stop distance and margin estimate do not describe. The cost of trading that line consists of the spread, any commission and any swap, and each depends on the account and the entity serving the Philippines, so read the specification rather than assuming two BTC lines are interchangeable.
Several listings also exist because the platform separates instruments by account type and by the entity that serves your country. Your login is on the FxPro entity that serves the Philippines, licensed by the FCA (UK) and CySEC, not by the SEC of the Philippines, and the specifications shown to you are the ones that apply to that entity. The practical move is to add your chosen BTC/USD to a watchlist once, rename nothing, and trade only that line. Funding the account through GCash or bank transfer in pesos does not change which symbol is correct; the specification does.
What one lot of BTC/USD actually represents in the order ticket
One standard lot of BTC/USD is 1 BTC, so a 0.10-lot order is 0.10 BTC and a 0.01-lot order is 0.01 BTC. The order ticket multiplies that quantity by the reference price near 77000.0 to give the notional value you are controlling, which is why a small lot number still carries a large dollar exposure. Read the ticket in that order: lot size, contract size, notional, then margin. If the contract size field does not read 1, stop and fix the symbol before you touch volume.
The margin the ticket reserves follows from that contract size and the leverage cap that applies to the entity serving the Philippines. At the applicable cap, a 0.10-lot bitcoin position needs about $385.00 margin. That figure is a worked example, not a target: the cap is a maximum the entity allows, not a setting to aim at, and the margin requirement moves with the reference price. Your free margin, not the cap, decides whether the order can be placed, so convert the dollar margin into pesos at your funding rate if you are tracking the account in ₱.
The pip value on this instrument is 1.0, so a one-point move in the BTC/USD price is one pip, and the profit or loss on the position is the pip move multiplied by the lot size. A 0.10-lot position therefore moves $0.10 for each 1.0 pip, and a 100-pip move is $10.00 before costs. That arithmetic is what makes the contract size worth checking every time: the same 100-pip move on 1.00 lot is $100.00. The spread, commission and swap are separate from this and are not fixed by the contract size.
Placing the stop loss on the entry ticket before the order goes live
Set the stop loss in the order ticket itself, before you press the button, so the position is never open without a defined exit. On MT4 and MT5 the entry dialog has a stop loss field next to the volume and price fields; on cTrader and the FxPro app the same field appears in the order panel. Fill it with the price your plan already named, not a round number chosen at the screen. The point is that the risk is fixed at the moment of entry, when you are calm, rather than after the position is live and the price is moving.
The stop distance should come from the chart structure and the lot size should come from that distance, in that order. Decide the price where the idea is wrong, measure the distance in pips remembering that one pip is 1.0 on BTC/USD, then choose the lot size whose loss at that distance you can accept. With the reference price near 77000.0, a stop 500 pips away on 0.10 lot is about $50.00 of risk before costs. If that number is uncomfortable in pesos, cut the lot size; do not widen the stop to make the lot fit.
Attaching the stop at entry also protects you from the gap between intent and execution. If you place the order first and add the stop after, the position exists for some period with no exit, and a fast move in bitcoin during that window is unhedged. The entry ticket closes that window. Check afterwards that the stop appears in the terminal's position list at the price you typed, because a rejected or altered stop is visible there and nowhere else. The leverage cap does not change this step; it only sets how much margin the position reserves.
Reading the swap line when a bitcoin position stays open past the daily cutoff
The swap line shows the amount credited to or debited from your account for holding the position overnight, and on BTC/USD it is usually a debit. It appears in the terminal's position window and in the account statement as a separate entry from profit and loss. The number is not a fixed figure you can memorise: it depends on the instrument, the direction of the position, the size, and the rates the broker's liquidity providers apply, and it can change from day to day. Read it on the platform rather than assuming a value.
A position held past the daily rollover cutoff accrues one swap charge per night, and some weekdays carry a multiplied charge to cover the weekend. That means a trade planned as a short intraday idea but left open for several days can accumulate costs that were never in the original risk calculation. Before holding a 0.10-lot position for a week, check the swap shown on the ticket and multiply it by the nights you expect to hold. The cost consists of that swap plus the spread and any commission, and each depends on the account and the entity, not on a number quoted on a website.
The swap is quoted in the account's base currency, so a peso-funded account sees the debit converted, and the conversion depends on the rate applied at the time. Watch the swap line together with your free margin: a run of debits reduces the cushion that the leverage cap left you, which can matter on a position sized close to the margin limit. If the plan is to hold overnight, size the position so the swap and the stop-loss risk together stay within what you accept, rather than sizing to the maximum the margin allows.
Checking the BTC/USD specification against the ticket before the first order
The specification window is the reference that tells you whether the ticket in front of you is the instrument you planned. Open it from the symbol list and confirm four fields: the symbol name BTC/USD, the contract size of 1 BTC per lot, the pip value of 1.0, and the margin requirement that follows from the leverage cap for the entity serving the Philippines. If any of those differ from what your calculator assumed, the order you are about to place is a different trade. This check takes a moment and prevents the most common sizing error on this instrument.
The reference price near 77000.0 is the anchor for that check. Compare it with the chart and with the price on the ticket; if the ticket shows a materially different level, you may be looking at a different symbol or a stale quote. The margin example of about $385.00 for 0.10 lot at the applicable cap is also worth reproducing in the platform's own calculator, because it confirms that the contract size and cap the platform is applying are the ones you think. The cap is a maximum, not a recommendation, and the platform will still refuse an order that exceeds free margin.
The regulator position belongs in the same check: FxPro is licensed by the FCA (UK) and CySEC, not by the SEC of the Philippines, so the protections and the specifications you see are those of the entity serving this country. Funding through GCash or bank transfer in pesos does not alter the contract size, the pip value or the swap, which are set by the instrument and the account. Keep a note of the specification you verified so that a later symbol change or platform update can be compared against it rather than assumed.
What changes to the stop and the swap mean for a position already open
Once a position is open, the stop loss can be moved but the swap already accrued cannot be undone. Modifying the stop on MT4, MT5, cTrader or the FxPro app changes where the position exits, not what it has already cost to hold. The practical rule is to move a stop only toward reducing risk, and to check the swap line at the same time so the total cost of the trade stays visible. A stop widened to avoid a loss increases the risk the original ticket was designed to cap.
The swap line updates as the position crosses each rollover, so the cost of holding is cumulative and appears in the statement alongside the floating profit and loss. On a 0.10-lot BTC/USD position the swap is small per night in dollar terms but it compounds over weeks, and it is charged whether the trade is winning or losing. If the reason for holding has gone, the swap is a cost with no offsetting thesis. Compare the running swap with the distance to your stop to see whether the position is still worth its risk.
Free margin is the number that ties the stop, the swap and the cap together. The leverage cap set the margin reserved at entry, the swap debits reduce free margin over time, and the stop defines the loss if it is hit. Before adding to a position, check all three in the terminal rather than estimating. The cap is a ceiling on what the entity permits, not a target, and the entity serving the Philippines is licensed by the FCA (UK) and CySEC, not by the SEC of the Philippines, so the margin rules you see are the ones that apply to your account.
